Damsels ‘N Dragons (Oh My!)
Jul 1st, 2008 by Ranger Bob
After hearing so many good things about a little place called ‘Swan Lake’ up in the North Country for years now, Scratch and I finally decided to go check up on things for ourselves. Well, we can confirm that everything we’ve heard about this place is indeed true (except that Pelicans now nest here instead of Swans).
Thankfully, the campground (which was to be shutdown and used as a day use area) had it’s policy reversed due to public outcry, and for obvious reasons. Although, they could do something to improve the “dock area” to the West (nay nay, ledge of doom) and remove the submerged rebar steel that could easily pop a pontoon boat if you were not wary.
Here lurk ‘Fire Breathing Trout’ friends! (A video edit by Ranger Bob).
We’ll be back!
So, yeah (on the scoreboard front), I scooped the pin on Sunday with what me and Scratch both thought was a largish fish for this lake, only, to see him take it the very next day with a real monster (about twice the size). So, we’ll call this weekend a draw. =)
In the meantime, Happy Canada Day to all! And check out the Flickr pics for more!
PS – Swan Lake is not far from ‘Sturgeon Lake’ as shown in our banner photo above where I took the Northern Lights shots over the dock.
